INSEAD has no plans to offer full time MBA programmes but is looking to offer executive education programmes in India for senior executives, the school’s dean Dipak Jain, said on a visit to the city on Saturday. INSEAD, routinely ranked by various publications as a top-10 business school in the world, has campuses in France, Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
“We have no intentions for full time programmes but are very committed to executive education,” said Jain, who took charge at INSEAD in March last year. “Senior executives are going to drive the future. We are exploring different possibilities.”
Jain was speaking as part of educational advisory ReachIvy’s speakers series at Jai Hind College, Churchgate. He said they would be likely to offer executive education programmes from this year itself.
Jain also spoke about the possibility of opening another INSEAD campus – somewhere in America. INSEAD is considered among the most ‘global’ of business schools, with one campus in Europe, one in the Middle East and one in Asia-Pacific. “The next thing is to build something in America,” said Jain, pointing out that such a move would make it truly global.
Jain is among a growing number of Indians leading top business schools; others include Soumitra Dutta who was recently appointed to lead Cornell’s business school, NitinNohria of the Harvard Business School and Sunil Kumar of the University of Chicago’s Booth Business School. Jain said INSEAD focussed strongly on diversity in its admissions, and admitted no more than a certain number of candidates per country. He said the school looked strongly for “global experience and interest” among applicants.
