The average representation for Indian women at top 20 US MBA programs is currently at 38%; top 10 schools have 41% women

Of the 42 women that applied for MBA programmes abroad through Admission Gateway , a Delhi-based admissions consultancy , 41 made it to the top 15 business schools across the world.The success rate is not unusual for the consultancy , but the sheer number of women applying to B schools abroad is. At Admission Gateway , the number of women applying and getting through to the top B-schools abroad has doubled.

We believe this is a cultural change in India driven by socio-economic factors. Our numbers have echoed the numbers at the top schools going from around 32% to 36% to 41% over the past three years,“ said Vibha Kagzi, a Mumbai-based consultant who heads ReachIvy.com.

Over time, ReachIvy's founder has noticed that women who were eager to go for a quick Masters program (1-2 years after college), are now willing to invest the 4-5 years of professional experience to then gain acceptance at a top B-school.

Interestingly , we get a lot of parents calling to enquire for their daughters and taking a very active interest in their post-graduate academic work. This is a new phenomenon but most welcome. We believe this is a cultural change in India,“ added Kagzi.
