SMU was established on 12 January 2000 and is located in the downtown area of Singapore. It is the third autonomous university in Singapore. The university provides broad-based business programmes modelled after the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. The Singapore Management University follows a course credit system similar to that used in most American universities.
