Charles Wallace India Trust

Charles Wallace India awards, which are generally from 2–3 months up to a maximum of a year, cover accommodation and living costs in the UK, fees and a contribution to international fares. However, the Charles Wallace India Trust does not support two-year courses.

About:

CWIT enables Indians in the early to mid-stages of their careers to spend time in the UK, helping them to achieve artistic, academic and professional ambitions and to broaden their international contacts. The categories of grants available include fully-funded awards; visiting fellowships in agreed subjects at specific institutions; grants for research and professional visits; grants for doctoral study; and grants to attend the Scottish Universities Summer School.

Eligibility:
The applicant should:
1. be an Indian citizen living in India
2. be aged between 25 and 38
3. have a first degree, diploma or professional qualification in their specialization. CWIT prefers applicants with significant working experience
4. have not received a CWIT grant within the last five years.

How to apply:
Your application form should include a Statement of Purpose (not more than 2 pages), stating clearly which course you plan to follow, what you want to do in the UK and how you plan to put this into use on returning to India.

You will also need:
1. An IELTS Certificate (essential for unconditional acceptance for most UK courses).
2. Evidence of unconditional acceptance on the course, program, attachment or internship for which you have applied, or evidence of progress towards acceptance.
3. Portfolio submission where appropriate in either online links or uploading pictures or relevant documents.

Each year, applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their applications and invited to the British Council for an interview in New Delhi in February. The panels of Indian experts are chaired by CWIT. Results of the interviews are announced in early April.
