SOPs - What to Include

What does your personal statement tell the admissions committee about you? Does it need to include my predicted grades? Watch this video to learn more!
The SOP is the only element in the application process that is completely in your control. Guess what? You can shape it the way you want to portray yourself.
Why is the Statement of Purpose so important?
1) For studying abroad, a statement of purpose is your opportunity to let the admission officers get a glimpse of the real you. It helps the admission officers to know your personality, career goals, and ambitions in life.
2) Top universities are always looking out for answers to these questions like why a candidate deserves to be at our university? How are they any different from the other thousand applicants? The answer comes through your SOP as each one is unique based on one’s overall journey.
3) SOPs are the make or breakpoints in the admission process. Candidate’s scores and GPA scores might be the same as their peers, but the SOPs are always unique. Candidates can’t afford to make any mistakes or be casual while writing their SOPs. Little do they realize that such mistakes can cost them their admit.
A piece of advice – If you do not take the pain to write a good SOP, then you are letting loose your strings. This will only result in letting your dream fade away from being admitted to one of your dream colleges.

Grishma Nanavaty graduated with an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science from The University of Warwick after completing her GCSE’s and A-Levels in Hong Kong.
Grishma’s rich professional experiences span futures trading, investment banking, treasury management and diamond wholesaling with previous roles at American Express, Poten & Partners and The Dow Chemical Company in the US and Hong Kong. She brings her global perspective on education and careers to ReachIvy and is eager to share her experiences and assist students with their educational endeavors.
