With schools like HBS, Yale SOM and Chicago Booth declaring their deadlines, the pressure to excel is really high. Some schools have also released their essay questions and you can expect the full application anytime soon.

Notify your recommenders right now as business school recommendation questions are very specific and straightforward. Approach your current/ previous employer in advance ‘cause at the end of the day, they are doing you a favor and the least you could do is not make them rush it.
Now that your LOR is out of the way, focus on your essay questions. One common question that stumps most students is ‘what would you like us to know as we consider your candidacy for our MBA program?’ Pretty straightforward and yet so complicated at the same time. The answer might be simple like your goals for the future or your particular interest in the MBA program. But look through the fine print as it is your chance to show what is truly unique about your profile. Emphasize on your leadership skills and demonstrate those with relevant stories or anecdotes.
Even if you plan on answering it later, take some time to mull over the questions and let ideas flow freely through your head. Starting early doesn’t mean picking up your pen and paper this instant and begin writing. Let your head wrap around the question and understand its intricacy.
This goes without saying that you need your transcripts in hand before the deadline. Compile all your documents neatly so as to avoid any last-minute hassle.
